"She's happy to lay waste to the instrument when that's what's called for : "Reciprokataj IV: Olive You" begins with a display of power that would mark the summit of most players performances."

I am proud to announce my new album, Nong Voru / Fake Love, with Ghanaian xylophonist Alfred Kpebesaane, April Centrone, Oren Bloedow, and Michael Clemow - out on Chant Records. Nong Voru features traditional Ghanaian xylophone (Gyil) songs I studied with Alfred in Ghana, with keyboards, microtonal synth and computer processing. It follows my debut album, Enamiĝo Reciprokataj (Reciprocal Love), titled in Esperanto, featuring Nick Anderson, Ben Perowsky, Greg Chudzik and Ari Folman-Cohen. You can listen and buy both albums digitally or on physical cd on linktr.ee/brittanyanjou.

Nong Voru debuted at #1 on Bandcamp in the world and roots music categories! Plus it made the top 15 in tropicalia and world fusion, and Bandcamp’s Best Jazz of March 2021. We reached #33 of the top world music albums on the TransGlobal Music Charts.

Debut Album

Enamiĝo Reciprokataj / Reciprocal Love (Origin Records) is my debut piano trio LP featuring Greg Chudzik, Nick Anderson, Ari Folman-Cohen, and Ben Perowsky. The title means ‘reciprocal love’ and ‘mutual breakdown’ in Esperanto. Enamiĝo (pronounced En-ah - mee - joh Re-sih-pro-Kah-tye) is available on Bandcamp, major platforms, and physical CD at linktr.ee/brittanyanjou

Praise for

EnamiGo Reciprokataj

Anjou’s compositions are read as a series of points of view on the art of the trio. With its minimalist rehearsals, it is an anthology of songs both dreamlike and alert, where free-jazz meets Rachmaninoff and electronics.

Anjou’s personality, strong and mercurial as it is, continues to serve as the dominant force. Her gifts as a bricolage artist and original thinker remain in the foreground regardless of who’s on board to help her flesh things out. While we’ve barely opened the door to 2019, we already have a serious contender for the year’s strongest debut here.
