I titled Enamiĝo Reciprokataj in Esperanto because the language mirrors jazz improvisation. The words reflect enamor, reciprocity, and the enigma of improvising. The meaning, ‘reciprocal love,’ also translated as ‘mutual breakdown,’ is a double entendre about improvisation and the push/pull of relationships. It represents the enigma improvisers face to spontaneously fall in love with their instrument/the sound/the situation/each other, and additionally, to convince an audience to fall in love with their love, every time they step onstage.
